Tribeca Residence
Set within a full-floor loft in a historic pre-war building dating to 1860, Tribeca Residence reworks a classic downtown apartment into a softer and more personal family home. The existing architecture — tall ceilings, south-facing windows, pale walls, and a largely open plan — provided a quiet framework for a design focused on proportion, material contrast, and carefully placed objects.
Laseu Studio approached the living and dining areas through furniture and atmosphere rather than heavy architectural intervention. Custom pieces designed by Laseu Studio and fabricated by Brooklyn-based studio Work At Hand bring a local, highly crafted layer to the apartment. A low oak table anchors the living room in front of the Carrara marble fireplace, while a built-in dining banquette and custom wood table create a more intimate room within the open loft
The kitchen was updated as an extension of the living space, with light refinished cabinetry, Carrara marble counters and backsplash, and delicate brass hardware. Together with sculptural lighting, vintage-inspired seating, and collected objects, the interventions give the apartment a calmer rhythm, balancing the scale and character of a historic Tribeca loft with the comfort and informality of family life.
