Dumbo Residence

Designed for a music-loving family, Laseu Studio remodeled a Dumbo, Brooklyn penthouse, unifying its spaces into a calm retreat overlooking the Manhattan skyline. The project softens the contemporary architecture with warm textures and custom detailing, creating an open but notably quiet home for both daily living and creative work.

White oak millwork runs throughout, including bookshelves tailored for a vinyl record collection with an integrated turntable and custom pewter-gray Ojas speakers. A vintage upright piano anchors the living room, while a dedicated music studio features acoustic wall panels and a custom desk. The open kitchen was reworked to flow naturally into the dining and living areas, encouraging a sense of openness while preserving acoustic calm.

Multiple custom hand-tufted wool rugs designed by Laseu Studio and bespoke furniture by Work at Hand add a crafted, personal touch. A separate room was turned into a home office. Art by Blanca Guerrero, Jon Koko, and Vik Muniz punctuates the soft, neutral palette, adding color and texture without overwhelming the serene atmosphere.
