Casa Gianna
Casa Gianna is a Downtown Miami restaurant at the base of the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences, reimagined by Laseu Studio from an originally planned food market into a warm, Italian-inspired dining environment. The project focused on layout planning, custom furniture, built-ins, textiles, and decorative lighting fixture selection.
Working within the existing hard finishes and bar design, Laseu Studio softened the more industrial character of the space with warmer materials, layered fabrics, and a new decorative lighting language. Custom banquettes in brick-colored velvet are paired with textured upholstery, cream-toned bentwood chairs, natural wood tables, and built-in elements to create a dining room that feels lively, comfortable, and more intimate.
Decorative lighting brings scale, rhythm, and warmth to the tall interior. Large chandeliers composed of radiating drum shades, finished in black metal with fabric diffusers, create a strong overhead gesture in the main dining room. Tapered linen wall sconces with brass detailing add a softer perimeter glow, while playful counter lamps with perforated brass shades bring smaller moments of warm light to the bar.
Layered window treatments also help transform the atmosphere. Light linen curtains and café curtains soften the edges of the room, add privacy and intimacy, and contrast with the harder existing finishes. Together, the upholstery, curtains, built-ins, and glowing decorative fixtures give Casa Gianna a more collected, Italian-inspired character without altering the larger architectural framework.
Outside, the dining area extends into the city with yellow awnings, café seating, planting, patterned paving, and string lights. The terrace gives Casa Gianna a casual, social quality inspired by Italian summer dining, while the interior offers a more atmospheric setting for evening service.
